Veronica’s Haunt and Bone Marrow

I’m going to put this out thereĀ  (and on the Veronica’s Haunt page above). This is something I have been talking about with individuals over the past few weeks and months, and it is something that I feel very strongly about. Now both subjects will be combined into one wholesome, fruity morsel that is easier to digest.

If Veronica’s Haunt is funded ($735 to go), I will donate bone marrow after principal photography has concluded. I have already done the pre-screening and everything’s cool with me. There is only the swab test that has to be done and then go through with the procedure should I match with a donor.

This is something that I feel as passionate about as filmmaking and writing. Bone marrow, as opposed to blood donations, are much more difficult to do as it requires matching against many more variables. To compound matters, marrow does not keep like blood; you simply cannot extract it and put it in the fridge for safe keeping. The window for it is only a few hours as I understand it.

So if you’ve got a few bucks to help with Veronica’s Haunt, do so and know that if it does succeed, I will be getting the marrow sucked out of me like a turkey leg on Thanksgiving and possibly saving the life of a kid with leukemia. And I will make sure there are plenty of pictures for everyone to see.

  1. *grin* He’s already got a photographer lined up. *waves to the nice people*

Someone who’s also on the bone marrow donor list, at that.
