A little commercial we made

A few weeks ago I was asked to do a photo shoot as well as take some footage for a commercial for the book. This was all an experiment by my publisher, Michael Wiese Productions. An experiment in terror, in fear, in…seeing how far and wide this new-fangled Internets thingy could take a trailer/commercial for a book.

Whether turkey or tofurkey…

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there reading this. The end of this year draws near. Many of us take the time now to reflect on those things we are happy for. I do so as well, but also contemplate what those things are that I will take with me into the next year that will make it even better.

ScreenTalk this week

Our guests on ScreenTalk this week will be Marilyn Horowitz and Will Akers. Our topic is “The First Act”, and Marilyn will be going overthe first act with a Screenwriter’s Utopia member’s script live on the air and what can be done to make it better.

Announcing Screeniq Screenwriter!

This has been a long time coming, and I’m glad to finally announce it. Screeniq Screenwriter is now out! Screeniq Screenwriter is a free, web-based screenwriting software package that we’ve been working on since June of last year. We felt it was now ready for a broader introduction into the world.

ScreenTalk is back next week

Looks like ScreenTalk will be back on the air live starting next week. I haven’t been given a lineup yet, but as soon as I do I’ll be sure to let you know.

Book Update

I’d like to take a moment and let everyone know that, while the blog posts might seem erratic right now, they are that way for good reason. Most of my time now is devoted to supporting Horror Screenwriting, which includes photo shoots, interviews, and even commercials.

ProgressCellRenderer – Gauges for Grid Cells

Here’s another quickie I came up with for Grid controls – a ProgressCellRenderer. Will take a value in a cell and convert it to a progress gauge background in the cell. Also does a little formatting to add a % sign at the end of the value if it doesn’t have it. Useful for read-only cells that are updated from another data source or calculation, but can be manually edited also.

Nanowrimo Begins!

It snuck up on some of you, no doubt, but National Novel Writing Month (aka Nanowrimo) has begun as of midnight this morning. I hope there are thousands of you out there cranking away on your own novels and reaching that seemingly elusive 10 pages-a-day count.

Welcome Author Central Viewers!

To all of those who are reading my blog through Amazon’s Author Central, welcome! Rather than try to maintain multiple blogs, I’ve hooked up this blog through the wonders of RSS feeds into AC.

DatePickerEditor – A useful control for wxPython

I still like to share solutions to problems that I’ve solved that maybe someone else out there may have encountered. And hopefully save them some time and banging of head against the wall. One of them was my need to develop a custom GridCellEditor control for wxPython for use with grids. Now you can select dates from within a grid cell without having to refer back to another calendar.
