Drafting

Apologies for not posting in a while. I’ve been a bit under the weather and trying to fight off this nasty bug while working, and I haven’t had much time after that to post.

We made a big push today. Started out early and locked 3 more locations, which means we only have 2 or 3 more left to lock and that part of pre-production will be complete.

Spent most of the evening/night into this morning working on the 8th draft. This was a cleanup draft for dialogue and plot points we needed to put in. It’s these little nuances I love to work on because they make stories all the more compelling.

Tomorrow (April 17th) is a big casting session day in L.A. Which is one of the reasons I was trying to get the 8th draft out the door before 9am PDT. The Director and one of the Producers will be there also going over it with a fine-toothed comb.

I’ve come to embrace the collaboration process of working with the Director and enjoy it a lot. I think if more screenwriters chose to work this way, to help mold the story for the screen, then we might see some really good work come out. It’s all about giving up part of your vision for the vision that the Director and the production team have to make it all happen. And it’s not that big of a stretch to do.

So play nice. You never know when your chance might come along. 🙂

Stay tuned, and I’ll report on the L.A. casting session.
