It Just Gets Better

Happy Good Friday to all of you. Today was a little slower than before, but we got a lot done early.

Joel met with Gene in the wee morning hours and went over the effects shot list in detail to get everything broken down. By broken down I mean all of the practical F/X on one page, the CG F/X on another, and the pyrotechnic F/X on yet another.

This can be a painstaking process because you have to go back through the script, one scene at a time, and then figure out what effects were there, what you want to keep, and how you think it should be done. Then the F/X guy tells you how it can be done most effectively on camera, then a consensus is reached and it goes on one of the shot list pages.

Came back to the production office for the afternoon. Our 1st AD came in today and sat down with the Director and the D.P. for a pre-production session. He left with a copy of the latest draft of the script, a bunch of notes marked on calendars, and will be returning tomorrow with his strip board (more on that later) and some plans on getting the production going.

So, after a nice dinner, the Director and I came back to the production office here, and I got a very special treat. He had a fully restored copy of “Citizen Kane” in his bag, and we both sat down to watch it.

Tomorrow the D.P. heads back home to go work on another shoot and we get down to the business of building a full production from what we have. The beast called Tenebrous plods ever closer to life…
