After recovering from Windows eating itself, I was able to put the trailer together for a short story anthology called Eighty Nine, in which one of my stories appears. Originally I had done a purely “synthetic” trailer. But I wanted to do something more. So, after a little planning we went out on an early November day and shot some footage. It wasn’t until recently that I was able to get it all together, but here is the final result.
Working on this trailer with the good folks at eMergent Publishing has been a lot of fun. We had a shoestring budget to go on ($120), a lower-end camera and lenses, but we made the best of what we had. I think it turned out quite well.
I should also note that this is the first time I’ve ever directed anything in my life. It taught me that I still have a lot to learn about the nuances of this craft, and probably will never stop learning.
