Who says the buddy cop movie is dead? Just Cops doesn’t say so!
Synopsis
A stereotypical pair of cops, one straitlaced, the other a loose cannon, search for a missing girl kidnapped by a meth cook using any means necessary.
Review
There’s not many high-action shorts out there that can deliver what Just Cops promises. When I stumbled across it, I was thoroughly engaged. And by engaged I don’t mean in the “oh boy I hope we get to hear some great interpretations of Shakespeare” kind of way.
First of all, it’s a buddy cop action film. Put your brain in neutral before you watch it. Otherwise you’ll walk away disappointed there were no Oscar-worthy portrayals. That’s not what an action movie does. It revs up your medulla oblongata with scenes of violence, shooting, and of course explosions. Sometimes you have to let yourself go and watch something like this for sheer titilating entertainment value.
Made in just 1 week for the 2010 168 Hour Film Festival, Just Cops went on to win 5 awards, including Best Cinematography.
So I say, if you’re ready for some big action in a small package, Just Cops is right up your alley.
