Review
I’m not going to delve deep into a review with this one. This short tends to be polarizing. Either people like it a lot or they hate it. There’s no happy medium with The Open Doors where you can like it a little bit or somewhat I’ve found.
Based on the short story “The Open Window” by Saki, this short has some solid production values. It takes a while before you get to the meat of the matter but you do get there in style. The ending can be a bit of a letdown for some (kids messing with an obviously overworked guy with a hyperactive imagination). Again, it looks pretty and it does tell a good psychological horror yarn.
Sound, music, frame composition and production values are all there. This little ditty probably cost a small bit of money based on the fact that it’s a period piece.
